During my internship at Jameson Camp, a nonprofit focused on youth development, I undertook various responsibilities, including planning fundraising initiatives like the annual Christmas party, creating a social media growth strategy to increase Instagram followers, and researching partnerships for third-party fundraisers. I also managed donor databases, assisted with grant applications, and analyzed giving trends. My primary learning objectives included enhancing my understanding of nonprofit fundraising, developing social media marketing skills, and gaining experience in event planning, all of which I successfully met through hands-on tasks and strategic execution. This experience allowed me to strengthen my skills in communication, strategic planning, and time management, while also contributing to increased social media engagement and securing partnerships for fundraising events. However, I identified areas for growth, such as public speaking during donor events, refining grant-writing skills, and gaining more experience in nonprofit budgeting. Academic courses like Healthcare Marketing, and operations Planning and Management directly influenced my performance, equipping me with knowledge in marketing strategies, donor relations, and event logistics. However, I found that real-world nonprofit work often required more flexibility than the structured approaches emphasized in class. I also recognized the value of courses in grant writing and nonprofit financial planning, which could have further prepared me for this role.
