The kids with Santa at the WSA Christmas Party
Our Christmas Tree at the WSA Christmas Party
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve ever taken on was planning a Christmas party for local families connected to the Williams Syndrome Association (WSA) chapter. My cousin’s son was born with WS, and I wanted to create something truly special for these incredible families.
With help from local businesses and generous community donations, we put together gift baskets for parents filled with spa days, restaurant gift cards, and more. Every child and their siblings received two specially chosen gifts, and we raised enough money to give each family an extra $200 before Christmas. Carrabba’s donated a delicious catered dinner, and a local cake decorator provided a beautiful custom cake. My daughter and her friend even dressed as elves to help Santa, who made a surprise appearance.
We hosted the party in a community building at a park with a playground and planned activities like cookie decorating that were tailored for the kids’ needs. Five families attended, and seeing the joy on their faces made all the hard work worth it. The support from friends and neighbors who pitched in to set up and clean up was incredible.
This experience was such a joy to plan and brought our community closer together. It’s a memory I’ll always treasure.
