About Me Introduction

My name is Megan Szymanski and I am a full time student majoring in Pre-Nursing and minoring in Health Psychology at IUPUI. I chose to pursue Pre-Nursing as my major because I want flexibility and versatility while still being able to work in the medical and healthcare field. I chose health psychology as a minor because I want to deepen my understanding of how others act they way they do, while also being able to support my patients during difficult and pressing times. As a first responder in many situations, it is my duty to be knowledgeable on the topic so that I can empathize with my patients and develop more personalized care plans for treatment. My long-term goal is to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with a potential to go into research. My internship thus far has moved me one step closer to that goal by introducing me to research centered around various cancers and other infectious diseases in a dry lab setting.
