Experiences

Manager

Working at Rulli's Pizza restaurant was my first interaction with the workforce. I started out as a hostess, became a waitress, learned how to make pizzas and wash dishes, then I learned how to run the pasta side, which is how I ended up becoming a manager. Those experiences combined taught me how to handle tough situations. I learned that if the turnover rate is too high, then outcomes will not be as good as they once were.

Sales Associate

Being at the UPS store I had the tasks of greeting and helping customers with their packages. I learned policies and regulations on how to package items. This job made me realize how important good management is. This experience gave me a good guideline on how to manage people properly.

Office Manager

Being in this quaint office allowed me to gain in-site on how this environment might be. Here, I managed schedules, billed customers, looked- up product information, and handled customer complaints. This gave me a true taste of how an office is run and what it felt like to be a part of it.

Sales Associate

Menards allowed me to work in the garden center for a couple of months before school started and I was allowed back because of my work ethic when the pandemic started. This is when I realized that having a good work ethic and attitude can get you far in a career. I was able to transfer to another Menards when I moved back to Indianapolis and I learned that I liked that flexibility. The team I worked with at both stores were amazing and I made life long friends at both.

Fairbanks of Public Health Research Assistant

I was able to see the importance of submitting data for health policy reporting. I collected, entered, and analyzed data to form statistics based on mask wearing in the Marion County area. I realized the importance that research plays into the healthcare. I was able to be apart of a position that is behind the scenes in the healthcare research and policy world.

Event Lead

I started here as a server and quickly moved into an event lead position. I considered this my "fun" job; it allowed me an avenue for good stress relief. This job also made me realize that I would like to further my learning in event planning. I think this would help me find ways to incorporate employee engagement.

Transportation and Patient Care Tech

Working at Community Health Network has given me a lot of exposure to different parts of the hospital and to see how each floor is run differently. While I am here I spend most of my day retrieving patients to get them for their radiology exams. I interact with nurses, managers, patients, and other hospital staff daily. My favorite part of the hospital is the Emergency Room. I like how fast paced the environment is, but I could not see myself in this position my whole life.

First Aid Tent and Joseph Maley Foundation

In high school I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer at a first aid tent during a special olympics track meet. At the time I was in an EMT program, so we responded to all seizures, fainting, and scrapes. Volunteering here helped me see that I handled being under pressure very well as a first responder and treating minor injuries.

The Joseph Maley Foundation was an opportunity that I found through my first year seminar class at IUPUI. I went to an elementary school in the Indianapolis area and helped teach children how other kids or adults with disabilities might get ready/around. The astonishment on their face when teaching these activities was worth every second.
