About the internship

The lab focuses on stress pathways and prostate cancer research. Using human cells, treatments are applied to understand how proteins interact and how the cells function to protect themselves.

Workplace

Currently I am confident in my ability to quickly learn new techniques and adapt in the lab. I love to learn and get things done efficiently.

I would like to see growth in my understanding of molecular concepts and I would like to be able to present my thoughts and findings more fluidly to an audience with less nerves in the future.

Reflection:

I wanted to put in a section here to talk a little bit about the impact that this program has had for me this year. I have been able to get some amazing once in a lifetime opportunities from working in the Wek lab. I was able to travel and present several times which developed my speaking skills as well as my networking abilities. I met so many new people and my mentors were all amazing to work with and helped me to really develop myself as a scientist. Even though there were challenges like scheduling and learning how to get writing and certain things submitted on time, everyone has been so supportive of my growth and learning. It was a very cool process to be able to see a problem and work with the team to create solutions. Taking science step by step and making new ways to experiment was highly impactful to my outlook on my education and future career path.
