My name is Katherine Brady and I will be an intern this year at the IU School of Medicine! The lab I am with is studying how prostate cancer cells adapt survive amino acid starvation. I am excited to be in a new lab space and learn new things!
I am currently majoring in biology. I plan to go to med school after graduating from IUPUI! I am open to lab and research opportunities. I love to learn practical skills as well as develop new knowledge sets.
This site serves as a log of my year as an intern in the IU School of Medicine Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department. I am excited to share my journey here with everyone here throughout the year as I learn all about stress pathways and cancer cells!
I was originally born in Indiana, but my father is in the military and so I ended up graduating from high school in Isle of Wight County in Virginia! I love to stay active and health is one of my main priorities, which carries over into my interests and studies. I like to stay busy! I am the Vice President of Biology Club here at IUI as well as the President of Recreational Hiking and Climbing Club. I have previous lab experience working on zebrafish embryos in the Marrs lab. Coinciding with my time in LHSI I am also a UROP student. I presented my research for that lab at iFORE in California Nov. 2023 and won the People's Choice Award. I also work as a banquet key captain at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. I am always challenging myself to do more and do it well. In Feb 2024 I got my phlebotomy license! I try to take on a variety of opportunities to make myself a more well rounded individual in STEM!
