I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Health Administration Certificate at Indiana University–Indianapolis, with an expected graduation date of Summer 2026.
I have direct experience in the healthcare field, working at a non-profit clinic as an interpreter and registration specialist. In this role, I assist patients in navigating their care, help provide access to vaccines, and support underprivileged communities in receiving essential services. This experience has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, work with diverse populations, and understand the importance of accessible healthcare.
I chose this project/service/product because it connects to my passion for psychology, healthcare, and helping others. My goal is to combine my academic studies with real-world experience to better understand human behavior and contribute to improving patient care and community health.
My academic background supports my interest in psychology and healthcare. Through my psychology courses, I have learned about human behavior, communication, and how individuals respond to stress, health challenges, and system barriers. My Health Administration courses have helped me understand how healthcare organizations function, how patient services are managed, and how administrative decisions affect patient access and quality of care. Together, these courses give me a strong foundation in both the behavioral and structural sides of healthcare.
I have hands-on experience working at a non-profit clinic as a Spanish interpreter and registration specialist. In this role, I guide patients through their appointments, help them access vaccines, and support families who often face financial, language, or transportation barriers. I work directly with underprivileged communities, which has shown me how important clear communication and compassionate care are. This experience has helped me build confidence in speaking with patients, collaborating with healthcare teams, and understanding how real people move through the healthcare system.
My goal is to combine what I learn in the classroom with real experience in the healthcare field. I want to better understand how people think, feel, and behave when they are seeking help and how healthcare systems can be improved to meet their needs. I am working toward a career that allows me to support patients, improve their access to care, and contribute to healthier communities. This project connects directly to the future I want because it brings together psychology, patient care, and health administration, which are all areas I hope to continue growing in.
