During my time with Little Red Door Cancer Agency, I interned as a Data Management and Development Intern. From October of 2023 through December of 2024, I helped support the amazing work that LRD does for our communities by providing goods and services to low-income cancer patients in central Indiana. My responsibilities consisted of gift-processing, donor-acknowledgements, Salesforce CRM software for data entry, and support for other analytical projects. This internship gave me a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit operations and developed many of the technical skills a professional needs such as proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis.Â
In May of 2024, I began working at Indiana University Health in the System Financial Team (SFT) Department. The summer internship consisted of working with the Internal Audit team to assess financial and operational controls in the organization to mitigate risks. My internship was extended through the fall, where I supported the Tax team and learned about tax-exempt status, community benefit, and IRS compliance for tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. Finally, I finished my internship rotation in the spring of 2025 after working on Business Continuity Planning with IU Health's Revenue Cycle Services Legal and Audit team. These internships gave me ample exposure to many departments and helped me build relationships with diverse colleagues. They also honed my communication, project-management, and leadership skills.
