Virtual Scholar's Book Fair
Thursday, March 10
12-2 pm, Zoom. Drop in anytime.
School book fairs were much-anticipated, carnival-like events in many of our childhoods. We knew the fairs were meant to be educational, but they were so fun and exciting that we didn't care. We pored over newsprint mailers, circling things that captured our imaginations and promised significant savings. We worked to earn bookmarks or other currency to trade in for books, and our community rallied around ensuring we had access to more books both at home and in school.
We're planning a fair of our own, the Scholars Book Fair, all about affordable course materials. This event will be virtual, but we will do our best to create that same sort of giddiness for IU instructors. The atmosphere will be playful and exploratory, featuring a range of content that ensures a more affordable education for IU students.
Topics include:
IU eTexts, Digital Courseware & Learning Tools
Open Educational Resources
Pressbooks and their interactive content
Library Resources: Unlimited Access eBooks, Streaming Video, Lib Guides, Primary Source Materials, Archives and Collections
Virtual Reality & 3-D printing
Ally for Accessibility in Canvas
Unlocking Content: Active Reading
Drop in via Zoom anytime between Noon - 2 pm EST on Thursday, March 10. Connection details will be sent via email with your RSVP confirmation.
Register for the fair and sign up for a “goodie bag” to be delivered to your campus address!
Feel free to invite a friend! We hope to see you there!
New Interlibrary Loan Form
The Library just launched a new interlibrary loan (ILL) form that will make requesting items easier for students, faculty, and staff!
When using databases, you’ll now see a “Request through interlibrary loan” link appear for items that are not available as full-text from the library.
Once you click the 'request' link, it will take you to a prepopulated interlibrary loan form and all you need to do is enter your name and email! Then...just wait for either the article to be delivered to your email or a notification that your book has arrived and that you can come pick it up!
The previous interlibrary loan form remains active as well and will be useful when you don't have an online citation to autopopulate.
Featured Database: ARTstor!
ARTstor is a database that houses 300 collections containing more than 2.5 million images from the arts, architecture, humanities, and social sciences. Within ARTstor, you can view paintings, fashion, ancient sculptures, and much more!
