(cont) One area where I hope to grow during my time in the Honors program is professional development. I have already been fortunate to engage in numerous professional development opportunities through my coursework, networking events like the Honors Open House, and the Kelley Honors Retreat. A particularly valuable experience has been the Honors in Your Field Assignment, where I connected with my Honors Finance professor. These experiences have broadened my understanding of the finance field and how to leverage my honors experiences to create value in my future career.
Looking ahead to the spring of 2025, I am excited about the prospect of participating in the Kelley Japan Study Abroad Trip. This experiential learning opportunity will allow me to delve into business innovation and entrepreneurship, further enhancing my professional development and cultural awareness. I believe that immersing myself in a different business environment will provide invaluable insights that can inform my future career path.
Through my time in the Honors program, I aspire to emerge with meaningful connections, a deeper understanding of my field, and a clearer vision for my professional future. My academic journey has already led me to shift my major from Accounting to Finance in my first semester. Additionally, I am considering a transition to a certificate in Nonprofit Management instead of continuing with Philanthropic Studies. Engaging with my professor has illuminated new possibilities in the finance sector, helping me realize how I can integrate my passion for nonprofit work into my career.
Ultimately, I hope that my Honors experience will empower me to explore the intersection of finance and community service. By fostering connections and gaining insights within the Honors College at IU Indianapolis, I am confident I will be well-equipped to make a positive impact in both the nonprofit sector and the broader community. My commitment to excellence, development, leadership, and inclusivity will guide me as I navigate this transformative journey.
As an Honors student, my primary goal is to produce high-quality work in both my academic and professional careers. I strive to maintain a strong academic standing while actively engaging in community service and committing to ongoing professional development. As a Kelley student majoring in Finance and minoring in Philanthropic Studies, I am eager to explore a variety of disciplines. While achieving high grades is important to me, I place a greater emphasis on deeply understanding the material presented in my classes, internships, and other professional experiences.
My passion for community service plays a significant role in shaping my career aspirations. I envision a future in the nonprofit sector, focusing specifically on issues related to homelessness and food insecurity. In addition to my career goals, I am dedicated to mentoring fellow students, particularly young women. As president of the Living Faith Student Ministry, I have the privilege of mentoring peers on campus. This role allows me to create a supportive environment where students can gather for community, rest, and spiritual discussions through our weekly meetings. My position in this organization not only enriches my interactions with peers and professors but also cultivates a service-oriented mindset that I carry into all aspects of my life.
My personal statement has changed over the course of H200, as I have identified goals and opportunities for my honors experience.
