Putting your ePortfolio in context
Referencing and inclusion of external media
Two major categories of external media
Media being inserted into the ePortfolio
Media or webpages being linked to on an external webpage
These are not artifacts. This external media is from an outside source that allows you to reference external ideas and documents to provide more context to your viewer. By providing access to materials and webpages related to what you discuss and display, you can provide context to guide viewer perspective during ePortoflio viewing.
When external media provides more information
Ex: journal article or webpage about topic being discussed
Ex: webpage about an organization or program being referenced
When external media provides an example or is an example
Ex: a project or course ePortfolio being referenced by you
Ex: similar project or document to the one being referenced
Note this is not how artifacts are included, but if you reference an artifact in another context in the site, inclusion as external media may be a good idea.
When external media adds ethos or pathos to your discussion
Ex: website of organization or program you worked with
Ex: lab website of professor research conducted with
Ex: website of business work or project is done for
Embed as a hyperlink, image, or embedded document
Always provide a link to the original content source
