After graduation, I will continue my journey in senior care leadership by entering the Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program with BHI Senior Living. This next step is an exciting opportunity for me to build on the experience I’ve already gained with BHI and to move closer toward my ultimate goal of becoming an Executive Director or Administrator within a senior living community.
The AIT program will give me in-depth, hands-on experience across all areas of facility management. From compliance and budgeting to resident care and staff leadership. I’m eager to take what I’ve learned in the classroom and during my internship and apply it in a real leadership setting.
To become the best leader I can be, I know that learning doesn’t stop after graduation. Here are some of the key steps I plan to take as I continue to grow professionally:
Certifications I’m Interested In:
Lean Six Sigma (Yellow or Green Belt) to build on the project work I started at BHI.
Certified Director of Assisted Living (CDAL) to further specialize in senior living operations.
Graduate School Consideration: I’m open to pursuing a Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) or MBA in Healthcare Management in the future if I find it necessary for career advancement or want to specialize further in organizational leadership.
Professional Organizations to I Could Join:
LeadingAge Indiana
American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA)
Indiana Healthcare Association (IHCA)
Networking Goals: I plan to attend local and state conferences related to long-term care, stay in touch with peers in similar career fields, and connect with industry professionals through LinkedIn and alumni events.
This plan keeps me focused on the big picture while allowing room for growth, new opportunities, and continued learning. I’m committed to becoming a strong, ethical, and resident-centered leader in the field of long-term care.
