In 2022, I entered the Honors College as a freshman with big goals and a strong sense of who I hoped to become, captured in the “I am” and “I want to become” statements I wrote at the start of my college journey. Now, as a senior preparing to graduate in 2026, I can look back on those early reflections with pride, recognizing how much I’ve grown academically, personally, and professionally. The aspirations I once wrote as hopes have become the foundation of who I am today, shaping the leader, learner, and future HR professional I am stepping into.
This " I Am Statement" discusses who I was as a freshman in college. It talks about my values, personality, and discusses who I was at the time. I talk about my values, my personality, what I've learned, and how I have become the person I am today. It was created to show me and put into words a depiction of myself.
After reflecting on who I am, I realized I have some great qualities, but it also showed me that I have things I could improve to be a better version of myself.
My " I Want to Become Statement" is an artifact that discusses who I wanted to become freshman year in the future, what I wanted for my future, and what I needed to do in order to obtain those future goals. This was created to show me who I want to be and the actions I need to take to get there.
After reflecting on this assignment, I realized I have some great goals I want to achieve. It's going to take hard work to get there, but I'm not far off. As long as I continue the right path through my journey, I can achieve my goals for my future.
Looking back at my freshman‑year statement and comparing it to who I am now as a senior, I can clearly see how much I’ve grown both personally and professionally. As a freshman, I focused heavily on who I hoped to become: a dedicated, organized, independent leader with a strong work ethic and a commitment to self‑improvement. I wanted balance, confidence, and the ability to trust myself while still learning from every experience.
Now, as a senior preparing to graduate and begin my career in Human Resources, I can see that many of those goals I’ve already achieved. I’ve faced challenges that reshaped my perspective, strengthened my resilience, and pushed me to develop a deeper sense of purpose. I’ve learned to set boundaries, prioritize my well‑being, and embrace growth with intention. I’ve become more confident in my abilities, more grounded in my values, and more prepared to lead with authenticity and integrity. The person I hoped to become as a freshman is now the foundation of who I am today, and the progress I’ve made motivates me to continue evolving as I enter the next chapter of my life.
