My role & task as an INTERN (STEM Youth Coach)
Developed STEM activities for school age students by making research and applying what I have learned in class to create activities for them.
Prepared materials for student projects few days before the activity, to demonstrate good preparation and work ethics.
Led students in a STEM activity. After developing a STEM activity, I led the activities by grouping them into the group of 3 or 4 (depending on the type of activity) so that they can work in groups, share ideas, and know some basic ethics.
Supported students between grade 1 to 8 grade by been there for them, listening to there complains, and finding possible solutions to their complains.
Developed working relationship between students, and colleagues, by listening, and communicating to build good relationship.
As a STEM youth coach, I educate school-age students on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while keeping them engaged through fun STEM and team-building activities. During my internship, I developed my leadership skills by applying my experience as an executive member of a campus organization, researching STEM and team-building activities, planning the activities, and leading kindergarten to grade 8 students. I enjoyed listening, supporting, and finding solutions to their concerns and sought help from my supervisor, Felicia, and colleagues when needed. Working with the team at Hawthorne Community Center was a wonderful experience that allowed me to explore new workspaces and improve my socialization and communication skills through building relationships with students and colleagues.
