I received my Expanded Functions Dental Assisting certificate in 2012 at the J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis. Prior to obtaining my first assisting job, I volunteered at Trinity Free Clinic where I met Dr.Oyler, my first employer. Throughout my career, I have continued giving back to the community and continued my education to make sure I am able to provide exceptional care. The best part of my career is being able to provide a life-changing experience with just one office visit and being able to build meaningful relationships with patients.
Not only do I volunteer in dental community events, but I also volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters as my intentions are to be a role model to a little one to increase their chances in being successful. There are so many children in the world that have no support, no one to look up to, become negatively influenced based on their circumstances and if I can do something about it, I will. During our outings we go out and have fun, learn new things, try new activities, but most importantly, I always make sure my little sister is doing well.
In fall 2018, I joined the Predental Club and we have participated in community service events such as volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house, making coloring books for the children at Riley's Hospital, helping at Gleaner's Food Bank, and much more! Being a member of this club provides resources that are helpful for the dental school process.
