Assignments throughout Philanthropic Studies:

Assignment #1: Internship Final Project

This is a compiled document and reflection paper of everything that my internship in 2021 entailed. This internship was for the required class to graduate with my BA and was completed at Trinity Haven Indianapolis. This experience allowed me to explore the role of a unique organization in times of crisis and when their services were needed the most during the pandemic. I was also able to experience how other organizations in the community were so willing to help and build connections and relationships with Trinity Haven. Since this organization was so new to the community, there were many times when I was tasked with doing something for the organization which they have not done before. I think that this makes me more of an innovator than I have ever been before because I had never been in an organization’s work and daily operations environment so I was able to do things the way that I thought would be best for the organization. This opportunity showcases my ability to be flexible and make any task that I am given something that I can learn from.

Assignment #2: #GivingTuesday 2021

This experience was a requirement, and the largest project of the Donor Motivation I class, but it was one of the most eye-opening assignments that I have ever had to complete. Being in the position of a fundraiser is not something that many individuals can say they have done, and being able to serve in all the positions for this #GivingTuesday campaign, and shows that I can be responsible and trustworthy. The Giving Tuesday campaign is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year, and the importance of your social circle and social relationships as an individual or organization is crucial when it comes to donations. Throughout this project, I was also able to explore more of the different approaches that organizations make with the donations that they receive. This was one of the most memorable experiences that I have had in college, and it is not every day that someone has participated in a Giving Tuesday campaign so, therefore, this experience allows me to stick out and demonstrate some of the skills that I have learned.

Assignment #3: Interview Assignment

This is an assignment that I did in the Fall of 2020 for my Global Philanthropy class that required me to interview someone who identifies with a different culture or currently lives in a different culture from myself. The learning experience for this artifact comes from being able to dive deeper into a different culture and country other than my own, and I am able to see how others define philanthropy during a class. This artifact contributes to the program learning outcomes because I was able to compare and contrast my definitions and experiences of philanthropy with someone from a completely different country and background than myself. This assignment shows that I am able to communicate and willing to learn about different cultures and how open I am to learning more about all aspects of philanthropy, and how I do not have a set passion or set of interests.
