Where?

I am from Elkhart, IN and lived in the same house until I turned 18 and came to IUPUI. I graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 2018 with my Academic Honors Diploma. Moving to a large city was a huge step for me, but I was in need of some change in my life. In August of 2018, I moved to campus 2 weeks early to participate in the Summer Bridge program. Summer Bridge was offered to incoming freshmen, and it allows students to get a sense of college life before classes actually start. Doing Summer Bridge immensely helped ease my nerves a bit, but also made me realize that maybe my intended major of Pre-Nursing was not for me.

Now what?

About mid-way through my first semester here at IUPUI, I realized that Pre-Nursing was not going to be the right path for me to go down. I spoke to the academic advisor that was assigned to my Summer Bridge class, and she mentioned that I take a "Major Assessment" that was offered to future and current students. That assessment led me to the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy where I have been since the Spring of 2019. This school has opened my eyes to so many passions that I did not know existed, as well as a career in something that I did not know existed.

Since being at the school, I have since developed many personal and professional connections that I will always cherish. I have also been given the privilege to work in Student Services for the last 3 years which has connected me to so many unique experiences.

My best friend, Molly. I met her while being a student at LFSOP. Not sure what I would do without her!

What next?

As of April 2022, I accepted the position of Admissions and Academic Coordinator for the IU Lilly School of Philanthropy. I have fallen in love with this school and the idea of making a change in the world. I am very excited about what the future is going to entail for me, and I hope that I am able to continue making a difference by working at the only school of philanthropy in the world. Higher education is something that I am passionate about, and I think that everyone should have access to college and the appropriate resources to make them successful.
