Inspiring Experiences

My 12 students and I on the day we went to visit the Indianapolis Zoo

Experience #1: First-Year Seminar Mentor

Being a First-Year Seminar Mentor to 12 freshmen was so eye-opening and influential to me. Once being in their shoes, I felt as if I was able to connect them to resources I wish I had when I was them. Being able to learn that I can be a leader and be someone that these students could look up to was really special to me. I was able to watch friendships develop and work through that transition of being a college student with them.

Experience #2: Emcee for Mission Possible

Being an emcee for the Mission Possible Student Competition was an experience that was out of my comfort zone and was a completely new experience for me. Being able to learn how to communicate in front of a diverse audience was very influential and taught me a lot about myself. Also being given the task to stand in front of a large group of people to introduce some of our smartest and most creative students was such an honor.

Experience #3: Power of Children Awards

The Power of Children Awards has always been something that I have looked forward to every year. Being able to listen to these young philanthropists and hear their passions is so inspiring. Being an IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy student also opens doors for me to teach these children that there is a profession in philanthropy and there are ways that they can make an even greater impact.
