My Major
My major is Exercise Science Pre-Physical Therapy. I went this route because I have always had a desire to help people with questions on what ways to hit different muscle groups and also the best techniques to help with injury or discomfort when doing a movement. I first got interested in physical therapy and athletic training during my junior year in high school where I was researching information on how to exercise safely with proper technique and to also help me put on weight for football. Another topic I was interested in was recovery, and what I can do so I can get back in the gym the next day going full speed. Even though it took some trial and error to really figure out how I was going to continue with what I eat, how I train, and how I recover it really gave me a different outlook on sports medicine.
My Career Goals
My career goals are to become a physical therapist and eventually go back to school and try to become a chiropractor as well! I also want to be able to open up my own practice where there can be both physical therapy and also Chiropractics available. I have had an interest in Chiropractics, but I felt like it wouldn't be enough for me. I also think that having both professions in the same place would be a great idea considering most people will either end up in a chiropractor or physical therapist's office.
What interests me about both is just being able to work with my hands and get active with others! One of my biggest passions is to be to help in any way, shape, or form. If I have knowledge on a certain topic where I can help someone I will. Just being able to get someone back on their feet is what motivates me to do what I want to do in the future. I have been in that place before, when I pinched a nerve in my neck when I tried to snap my chin strap into place on my helmet, and I was stuck with my neck crocked for a week until I went to a chiropractor's office. With one simple appointment they readjusted my neck, and I got instant relief! Even though it was a small injury it reassured me of what I wanted to do in college.
