Committee's Background:
The ICCWC II is a specialized commitee within the United Nations dedicated to dedicateillicit trade of wildlife, particularly birds, reptiles, and amphibians in the Pacific and Amazon regions, presents a pressing threat to biodiversity. This clandestine activity, encompassing poaching and trafficking, has led to population declines and habitat degradation. Recognizing the urgency, the United States and Latin American nations are collaborating to develop comprehensive strategies. The committee's focus includes enhancing legal frameworks, building enforcement capacity, implementing conservation initiatives, and fostering international partnerships. The overarching goal is to curb illegal wildlife trade, raise public awareness, and safeguard these vulnerable species and their ecosystems.
Committee´s main faculties:
