This project consisted of removing and reconstructing the pavement in the right two (2) lanes and shoulders in both directions, inside widening of pavement to the median with an addition lane and shoulder in both directions, excavating existing pavement, constructing full depth pavement, chemically stabilizing the subgrade, constructing approach and departure ramp pavement for existing toll plaza in the Westbound directions, demolishing a portion of the existing Eastgate Toll Plaza Canopy, tolling lanes and toll booths, performing drainage repairs and replacements, installing concrete barrier wall, asphalt curbs, guardrail, performing approach slab replacements, installing new box trusses and cantilever sign supports, pavement markings and other traffic control devices, performing temporary traffic control, tree removal, clearing and grubbing, right of way fence replacement.
All inspection and testing work was performed by a team of 5-6 full-time staff. As the managing technician it was my responsibility to review project documents, verify material sources prior to delivery, attend project meetings, verify daily work schedule, assign field technicians to tasks, perform field testing and inspections as a full-time technician, observe and document proof roll operations, observe and test chemically stabilized subgrade, observe and test aggregate base placement, observe and verify the installation of drainage structures, observe and test concrete for placement, observe and test asphalt for design, extraction, gradation, rice, temperature, compaction for roller pattern, thickness, and core compaction. I usually acted as the main point of contact for any issues that came about.
