The Itchen Radio Studio in W7
The Itchen Radio Studio in W7
Itchen Radio has been broadcasting from this purpose-built space since 2015.
It's completely soundproof, with a floating floor, double doors and double glazing. There's a digital desk, a patch-bay to the room outside and equipment to play CDs, MP3s, Vinyl and even Cassette Tapes and Minidiscs! We have a selection of broadcast and recording microphones allowing us to make high-quality recordings of live music .
It has a green-screen wall inside and a blue-screen wall on the outside, so the studio can be used for film and video production as well as radio.
Unity 101
In addition to broadcasting across the college, we also broadcast many of our shows across Southampton thanks to our close relationship with local community radio station Unity101. Tune in to 101.1FM on Mondays between 2pm and 3pm.
We first started broadcasting in 2005.
After a few broadcasts from the Students' Centre itself, we built our first studio in S58, a room that had previously been the college stationary cupboard!
We broadcast from here for 10 years before moving into our current studio.
