2025 ITA PRESEASON RANKINGS POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Top 125 Preseason Singles Ranking
Procedure:
Players from the prior season’s final top 125 singles rankings who are not returning to college or are not playing during the fall semester will be removed from the preseason rankings.
Returning players from the prior season’s final top 125 singles rankings will receive a protected ranking and will be moved up the preseason rankings to fill vacancies left by non-returning players (example - players ranked #1 and #2 are not returning to college; players #3 and #4 are returning and therefore will become #1 and #2 in the preseason rankings, maintaining the same order from the prior season’s final rankings).
The remaining spots in the top-125 will be ordered by WTN among all players who were submitted for a preseason ranking (including freshmen). WTNs as of August 25th will be used. Freshmen and newcomers will be considered for a preseason national ranking, in addition to the Freshmen/Newcomer rankings (see below).
Top-90 Preseason Doubles Ranking
Returning intact teams with a year-end top-90 ranking, new teams with both players having been year-end top-90, and new teams with one player who had a year-end top-30 ranking will receive a protected top-90 ranking, but will not be prioritized to the top of the rankings. The rest of the top-90 will be filled by combined doubles WTN. The full field of 90 teams will be ordered by combined doubles WTN as of August 25th. (ITA DI Operating Committee, June 2025)
