The MYP is one of the International Baccalaureate's education programmes and is for students in grades 6-10.
The MYP is designed to teach you to:
become confident in managing your own learning
make connections between what you are learning in school and the real world
explore global issues and ideas
analyse and evaluate issues, generate your own ideas and consider different perspectives
make connections between your subjects
In the MYP you will study at least one subject from each of the eight subject groups, which are centred around the IB learner profile. This is to ensure that you learn a broad range of knowledge and skills to prepare you for your future studies in 11th and 12th grade, and your life after leaving school.
For Language and Literature you can study English, German and/or your First Language
For Language Acquisition you can study German, French, Spanish or EAL (English as Another Language).
Most students take either two language acquisition subjects and one language and literature subject, or one language acquisition subject and two language and literature subjects.
In grade 9 you will study one arts subject for the entire year, and have a choice of Drama, Music or Visual Arts.
PE in 9th and 10th grade is not a MYP subject.
You will also:
acquire new and improve existing skills that help you 'learn how to learn'
participate in service projects
