Gaint Pandas

Giant Pandas

Giant pandas live in a few mountain ranges in South Central China, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces in china. The used to live in lowland area but farming and development forces pandas to live in the mountains. There are about only 1,864 Giant pandas left in the wild and they are vulnerable on the IUCN red list. Adult pandas can get up to 150cm (5 feet) tall and have a 10 - 15 cm tail. Male Pandas can weigh up to 160 kg (35 lb.) while females weigh up to 125 kg (276 lb.) The average weight of an adult is 100 - 115 kg.


African Lions

African Lions

African lions live in sub - Saharan Africa and can grow to be 9 - 10 feet. They can weigh between 330 - 550 pounds (150 to 250 kilograms). Males usually reach the higher end of that range. African lions are now extinct in 26 African countries and have vanished from over 95 percent of their historic range. They are Vulnerable on the IUCN red list and the population is about 20,000 in total.


Gharials

Gharials

Gharials live only in Nepal and Northern India but they used to live in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Myanmar and Pakistan. They are aquatic reptiles that leave the water to bask and nest. Gharials are Critically Endangered and there are only about 650 - 700 left in the whole world!
