How We Express Ourselves

The students are learning to express themselves through poetry.

After reading John Burningham's book, "Oi! Get Off the Train", we wrote an acrostic poem called TRAIN. We also learnt how to read and write the /oi/ sound in words.

The children completed rhyming word puzzles and then used the rhyming words to write rhyming couplets.

The children enjoyed writing their own shape poems.

Together we wrote a haiku poem about the weather. Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry which has three lines. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables while the third line has five syllables.

The children enjoyed writing their own cinquain poems.

Today we learnt the combination sound /oa/ and read a story about a soap boat. Then we had some fun making soap boats.
