សួស្តី (Hello) and សូមអរគុណ (thank you) for your interest in attending the 8th ELLSA conference. We are so excited to host the conference at the International School of Phnom Penh on March 9 -10 2024, marking the first face to face conference since 2019. We are honoured to host this inspiring professional development with the hope that participants will:
reconnect with colleagues from past conferences
create new connections
and gain valuable and practical insights that move
our service forward.
We invite participants to also explore the vibrant city of Phnom Penh. There’s so much magic that Cambodia and its people have to offer. Below are all the details regarding the conference. Keynote
We are fortunate to have partnered with the legendary Beth Skelton as our keynote speaker. She is a full-time consultant who has 30+ years of experience teaching multilinguals, has worked internationally (Germany), taught many years of IB experience, created online courses, works with various Departments of Education in the USA, and authored two books.
Beth has been the keynote at many conferences such as WIDA, CIS, ECIS, and various TESOL conferences, and has provided extensive professional learning experiences for schools around the world. We have selected her from a small pool of highly qualified consultants because she is gifted at clearly articulating the principles of effective instruction of multilingual learners. We know you will find her message and strategies affirming and immediately implementable.
Workshop Proposals
One of the most valuable parts of the ELLSA conference is learning from colleagues who share similar job descriptions. We are calling for presenters who want to share a specific practice that meet at least one of the conference strands:
Teacher collaboration:
strategies and approaches for effective collaboration
Instruction design:
strategies to support delivery of content
Academic language and literacy development:
the development of the language domains for all language proficiency levels
Inclusivity:
methods for creating an affirming learning environment
To submit a proposal for a 55 minute presentation / workshop in English please complete the Presentation Proposal form.
We also hope to offer some presentations in Khmer language for Khmer speakers who will attend. To complete a proposal for a presentation in Khmer, please complete the Khmer Language Presentation Proposal form.
We are now accepting proposals for workshops / sessions up until early February, 2024. Please note it may take up to February 10th, 2024 for us to send out notifications of whether proposals have been accepted or not. In the meantime, PLEASE REGISTER for the conference as we cannot accept and add presentations to our schedule unless a potential presenter has registered.
