Make a Photo I Have Never Seen Before (All / Hands-on)
How do you teach students to think conceptually - with such a technical medium as photography? "The photos they are making are soooo boring and empty." Over the years, this question/sentiment keeps resurfacing in conversations with other Art Teachers. In this workshop, I will share how to guide your students to make original, conceptual, thought-provoking digital photography from the heart - without AI. We will view selected slides currently used at Zurich International School in our Photo classes and do several short exercises which set the tone for the year. We also start with an annual, rotating concept for the Art Exhibition introduced on Day 1; our theme this year is Duality. Our school has full-year classes; we will briefly look at the process used to bring students to the final project - a themed photo book which is designed as a guide for success at the IB or AP levels.
