STREET ART & GRAFFITI WORKSHOP (w SPORD)

ART IN PUBLIC SPACES / David Černý tour
David Černý is one of Prague’s most provocative contemporary artists, known for bold, often controversial sculptures placed directly in public spaces across the city. From the giant crawling babies on the Žižkov Television Tower to the upside-down horse in Lucerna and the rotating head of Franz Kafka, his work blends humor, irony, and critique.
Loved by some and questioned by others, Černý transforms the city into an open-air gallery — inviting viewers to pause, react, and see familiar spaces in unexpected ways.
Explore Prague in his footsteps.
INDIE GALLERIES & HOLEŠOVICE ART DISTRICT
Located in a former 19th-century slaughterhouse complex, Holešovická tržnice has transformed into one of Prague’s most dynamic cultural hubs — where industrial history meets contemporary art, food, and performance.
Within its halls, spaces like Trafo Gallery and Chemistry Gallery showcase contemporary Czech artists in raw, industrial settings, while Jatka78 brings experimental theatre, dance, and new circus into the former slaughterhouse halls — turning them into a true “temple of creativity.”
Beyond the market, the wider Holešovice district has evolved into one of Prague’s most vibrant creative neighborhoods. Spaces like Vnitroblock blend café culture, design, and rotating art exhibitions, creating informal hubs where art, community, and everyday life intersect.
Together, we’ll visit these spaces that reflect a city in transition — where old industrial architecture becomes a canvas for contemporary culture, experimentation, and creative exchange.
CONTEMPORARY GALLERY SPACES & THEIR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES
Kunsthalle Praha is a contemporary art space in the heart of Prague, housed in a beautifully renovated former industrial building. Its programme focuses on modern and contemporary art, often connecting visual art with broader themes like society, technology, and identity.
What really sets Kunsthalle apart is its strong, innovative educational programme. Rather than treating education as an add-on, it’s a core part of the institution’s mission — using art as a way to spark curiosity, critical thinking, and dialogue.
We’ll visit Kunsthalle Praha and experience not just their exhibition but also their team’s strategies to position art as an active, participatory experience — one that encourages visitors not just to look, but to question, create, and engage with the world around them.
URBAN SKETCHING SKETCHBOOK WALK
Old Town - Astronomical clock and the Church of Our Lady before Týn - Charles Bridge
We will begin in Old Town Square where you will have many choices of where to draw and sketch during your time here. You may choose to sit across from the Astronomical clock and have a beverage while you draw tourists, the clock and the atmosphere. Or you may choose to move across the square to the Church of Our Lady before Týn where you can draw the entire square or of course the Church. After an hour of time on the square, we will slowly move to Charles Bridge where we will walk across, showing different access points. Here you may choose to draw the sculptures on the bridge, get below the bridge and draw the brick work, or step back, get a coffee and draw the square that is nearby. Again there will be an hour, and we will meet below to bridge so we can show off our two different sketches.
MUCHA FOUNDATION MUSEUM - SAVARIN PALÁC
A deeply rich experience on many levels, celebrating a pivotal figure to Czech national identity, Slavic history, quintessential Art Nouveau, and providing a whole world of inspiration for teaching and encouraging students in being more decorative and meaningful with their art.
OLD MASTERS / SCHWARZENBERSKÝ PALÁC - “OLD MASTERS I” & ŠTERNBERSKÝ PALÁC - “OLD MASTERS II”
“Study the Masters,” they said!! And you know what influence those Masters had on your art and you as an artist…and a teacher! This collection is incredibly diverse and all within reach for providing rich emotional inspiration, both as a teacher and a practicing artist.
BIOMIMICRY & DESIGN INNOVATION / IMMERSIVE WALK THROUGH THE PRAGUE PARKS & RESERVES

As we observe and collect textures, patterns, and forms from the environment, we will investigate how these organic solutions can inspire sustainable design and engineering.
Learn the principles of biomimicry and discover how observing the natural world can unlock creative answers to complex design challenges.

ANALOGUE PHOTO WALK
SESSION 1 : In this session, participants will be able to borrow one of several classic analogue rangefinders from the 1970s and 80s and shoot a roll of the Czech B&W filmstock Fomapan 400. We will visit a range of iconic historic sites in Prague with the overall goal of finishing the roll of 36 exposures and creating some lasting memories on film. This will be a walking tour, so comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions are a must. A camera, film, and a photography tour guide will be provided for this excursion. In the second session, participants will visit our ISP darkroom and will be given an opportunity to print a contact sheet and some A4 prints using a chemical bath.
In a world that is increasingly dominated by AI and other screen-based technologies, escaping into an analogue workflow can help to build a mindful connection to the art of visual storytelling. Having your students use film helps to combat the “spray and pray” mindset of digital photography, where images can be culled to find the “best shot,” and cultivates an intentional use of the image-making machine.
SESSION 2: This darkroom session is optional for those who have attended session 1. In the darkroom, we will bring our analogue film rolls to life with the art of printing. Participants will use an enlarger and photo-sensitive paper to make prints of their time in Prague. With dodging and burning techniques, we can go through several iterations of a single print with the goal of improving the overall contrast or deepening shadows or highlights for the final print. Participants can then build further creations like collages or other art in the final hours of our workshop.
