Ancient Quipus in Modern Art (All/Hands-on)

The ancient Incan art of quipus was used to help account for quantities of food, animals, people, etc., in the community.  Using their technique to make knots with a numeral meaning, and adding a letter knot element (since the Incas did not know writing), we can inspire students to encode non-written stories using a non-verbal, tactile language of color, texture, and space.
