QUIZ NIGHT!
What better way to promote our TEDxYouth event than by an educational and fun Quiz Night? On Thursday the 9th of November, our Quiz Night took place. A variety of members of the ISM community attended our fundraising event in order to raise awareness for our upcoming TEDxYouth@ISMonaco event!
We look forward to giving you more news on our journey towards our conference!
"MonacoUSA supporters turned out in force at the Conscientiae restaurant on Tuesday night to learn more about the upcoming TEDx Youth event hosted for the third year by the International School of Monaco. TEDx Youth is part of the global phenomenon of independently organised TED-like conferences celebrating “ideas worth spreading”.
This year’s event on April 6 will feature 11 student speakers aged 10 to 17, and for the first time two adult speakers – a parent from the school and a teacher..This year’s theme is “Reality Check” and the talks will include diverse topics including fake news, Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and the workplace, cyberbullying, dreams, reality TV and climate change. The talks will be filmed and shared with millions of viewers on the TED YouTube channel.
According to co-curator Alicia Sedgwick, the TEDxYouth event generates an atmosphere of teamwork, excitement, unity and cohesion with the full community working together. “TEDxYouth events, organized for and by young people, present a combination of live speakers and TED Talk videos to inspire curiosity, ignite new ideas and empower young leaders.” (MonacoUSA, 2024)
Our theme:
The theme which has been allocated for the 2024 TEDxYouth@ISMonaco Event is “Reality Check.”
How it was chosen:
A variety of themes were chosen by the committee, these were then brought forth and voted on by the school. The theme of 'Reality Check', having gotten the most votes, was chosen.
New Organising Board Members!
The TEDxYouth Organisation Board is happy to welcome its new Year 13 students to the team! We now have 10 members made up of both the student body and the PTA, led by Alicia Sedgwick.
The TEDxYouth@ISMonaco committee has been working hard to bring the event together and create the best possible TEDxYouth event. A huge thank you to all those on the committee!
There has been a delay in speaker auditions, however the process has now been adjusted in order to ensure the fairest and safest possible way for students to audition during the current circumstances. Rather than the traditional face-to-face auditions which had been planned, auditions were carried out over video conference using the Google Meets software. Each auditionee had a 10 minute time slot in which to deliver their own speech that they had written themselves to the entire committee, who were all very impressed with the quality of these and the confidence with which they were executed. There was certainly a remarkable variety of speeches to judge! Well done all!
We will soon reveal the students who have been chosen as speakers for the event itself, so make sure to keep checking our ‘meet the speakers’ page for updates!
