THREE THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1.) Keep track of where you found your information.
2.) At the end of your paper or project, you will need to have a section (or slide) titled: Reference list
3.) For each source you used, you need to include the Author and Source.
Example: If you used a book about vaccines:
Osborne, Naomi. Should all children get vaccines?
(In this case, Naomi Osborne is the author, and the book called Should all children get vaccines? is the source.)
Example: If you used a magazine with an article on vaccines:
Smith, Mary. The rush for the vaccine, The Week Junior.
(In this case, Mary Smith is the author, and the article from The Week Junior called The rush for the vaccine is the source.)
It is not required, but it is good to learn to use the italics on the title of the book or the article, as has been done in the examples.
WARNING: If you used an article you found in a Google search - GOOGLE IS NOT THE AUTHOR or THE SOURCE!!!
Example: If you used a BrainPop video, you would write:
BrainPop. Video on Vaccines.
(In this case, BrainPop is the author, and the video on Vaccines is the source.)
Example: If you used a Britannica School article, you would write:
Britannica School. Article on Vaccines.
(In this case, Britannica School is the author, and the article on Vaccines is the source.)
Example: If you used a website you found using a search:
In this case we are using the webpage from the Centers for Disease Control in the United States.
Centers for Disease Control. Webpage on Vaccines.
(In this case, the Centers for Disease Control is the author, and the source is the webpage on Vaccines.)
It is not required, but it is good to learn to link the source in the citation, as has been done in the examples.
This citation style is used when you are citing an interview that YOU conducted. It looks like this:
Interviewee last name, Interviewee first initial. Interviewed by Your last name, Your first name.
Example: If Mrs Casas interviewed Bernie Sanders it would look like this:
Sanders, B. Interview by Casas, Jessica.
(In this case, Bernie Sanders is the person being interviewed, and Mrs Casas is the interviewer.)
