On December 3, 2024, ISKL commemorated Giving Tuesday by hosting a special initiative: our first-ever Community Service Fundraising Fair for our Community Service Partners, from 9:30 am until 12:15 pm at the Middle School Deck.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement or day of giving on which people and organizations take the opportunity to give back to their communities and the world beyond. Giving Tuesday provides nonprofit organizations a platform to raise more money for charitable causes than they would on an average day of giving. This particular day encourages people to give back in whatever way they can. Read more about Giving Tuesday at ISKL.
The act of giving doesn’t stop with the Fundraising Fair—it’s a mindset we carry throughout the year. Let's continue to support our Community Service Partners with their needs below!
Children's Future Education Centre (CFEC)
The Children’s Future Education Centre (CFEC) is for children who love to learn and study regardless of race or religion. Most of our students come from poor families, and their safety on their way to school is not guaranteed, so we provide food and boarding for those who stay away from school. Besides food and shelter, we provide them with care, guidance, counseling, education, and opportunities for personal growth. The boarding school presently has a capacity of 40 children.
We mainly teach eight subjects: English, mathematics, science, social studies, basic computer skills, and other languages such as Mandarin, Bahasa, and Burmese. Our very tight budget cannot cover our rent, electricity fees, or teaching materials.

As we grow, both Fugee School and Fugee HiEd are expanding to create more impact. We aim to reach more refugee children and youth, enabling them to access the education and support services they deserve. This growth requires more resources to offer a higher quality of education and extend our programs to even more students. With your help, we can ensure no refugee child or youth is left behind.

Greater Action
Greater Action was founded in March 2020 as an emergency response to the pandemic. It is a dynamic, non-profit social organization based in Bandar Baru Ampang that is 100% volunteer-driven, with a team of devoted volunteers.
We want to give refugee children who are not allowed to join mainstream education access to quality education. It costs RM 250 per month per student with a minimum commitment of one year. We would like to provide vocational training in beauty, pastries baking, cooking, and tailoring at a cost of RM1,500 for a three-month period.

Save School for Refugees
Save School is a vital lifeline for refugee children of various backgrounds who otherwise lack access to formal education. As a school founded and independently run by members of the Somali refugee community, we rely entirely on donations and sponsorships to cover our operational costs. Our founder and principal, Isack Ibrahim, has dedicated himself to providing quality education to these children, but we face many financial challenges in keeping the school open and running smoothly.

The children who attend Tasputra live with conditions such as cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, autism, development delay, genetic disorders, and more - we also encounter diagnoses that are very new to us. The Chin Women’s Organization (CWO) Learning Centre
The Chin Women’s Organization (CWO) is a Chin refugee learning center under the protection of UNHCR. We seek monetary and non-monetary support to maintain our operations and continue providing essential services to the children in our care.
UNHCR
ISKL’s partnership with UNHCR for Teacher Training at refugee centers began eight years ago when a group of ISKL Elementary teachers volunteered twice a month to support up to 20 teachers across three learning centers. Since then, the initiative has expanded into a full-scale partnership, providing teaching workshops to over 250 teachers and school leaders serving Kuala Lumpur’s refugee community.
For many participants, these workshops represent their only formal training, and they are enthusiastic and dedicated learners. The next training session is on February 15, 2025. In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we are seeking donations of new or gently used books to support these teachers.
Zotung Refugee Catholic Learning Centre (ZRCLC)
Zotung Refugee Catholic Learning Centre is a community-funded learning center that operates independently and is not associated with NGOs.
In addition to teaching literacy and numeracy skills, we provide our students with lunch, uniforms, and stationery. Our tuition fee of RM 120 per child per month covers the salaries of our teachers and staff. However, this tuition fee remains unaffordable for many families, particularly those with multiple children.
Periodic public donations support all other operational costs, such as food, supplies, and utilities.
