"All nations have their own traditions, and gender stereotypes are part of it. But it is good to remember that they are made by people and can be reformed by people. "
Tarja Halonen, Former President of the Republic of Finland
Gender stereotypes are in many contexts of our life, for example in education, in social media, in advertising, etc ...
Since we were children, we've been learning that there are toys only for boys and other ones exclusively for girls. If this rule isn't followed, then you are "atypical". We've also learned to diversify role for male and female at work, in society and family.

Multiple girls are judged and stereotyped because of their physical aspect or the clothes that they're wearing. This should really end because a girl should be able to be who she truly is without being judged. The same goes for the boys.

The gender stereotypes are increased by the several advertisments that all of us have been watching since we were only children. These commercial are based on different stereotypes of our society which come from our culture and traditions.

The Advertising Standards Authority has released a report providing evidence for stronger regulation of adverts that feature potentially harmful gender stereotypes, “including ads which mock people for not conforming”. The report, titled Depictions, Perceptions and Harm, has instigated the development of new standards on ads with these characteristics, which will be enforced in future.
It is the result of a major review into gender stereotyping in ads, which the ASA says finds evidence that “harmful stereotypes can restrict the choices, aspirations and opportunities of children, young people and adults” which can be reinforced in some advertising. New regulations will not ban all gender stereotypes; the report clarifies: “For example the evidence falls short of calling for a ban on ads depicting a woman cleaning or a man doing DIY tasks.”

DAILY STEREOTYPES
One of the most popular stereotypes about women is that they are worse than men in driving cars.
For example a sentence we hear a lot is ''women at the wheel, constant danger'', it is not true.
The figures say that women cause much less accidents than men, they are much more prudent and responsible when driving.
In fact it's only a useless stereotype.
Women like men have the right to drive without being judged.

Nurses or doctor?
Many times women are undervalued and the job of doctor is associated to men.
This is a real stereotype, women are seen as people who don't have the right to have a higher position than men.
Of course, there are many men doctors, but there are many women doctors, who are very good at their jobs and work with the maximum commitment.

Another very frequent stereotype concerns women in politics. In this field they are certainly undervalued.
In today's politics, but also in the past, we have mainly seen men.
But in the past there were some women who fought for their rights, like Nilde Iotti.
She was an italian politician and was the first woman in the history of the Republic of Italy to hold one of the three highest positions of the State, as President of the Lower Chamber, a position she held for almost 13 years.
She was a symbol for women who had to fight for their emancipation in a sexist society.
