What is the community project?
The Community Project centers around community engagement and service, providing students with a chance to cultivate an understanding of how their personal skills and interests can contribute to addressing the needs of the community.
In small groups, students identify a community need that is of interest to all group members and collaboratively design actions to have a positive, ethical impact on the community, while reflecting on their individual and collective knowledge.
"I began learning long ago that those who are happiest are those who do the most for others"
- Booker T. Washington
Emphasizing service as a form of action has the potential to create tangible and lasting positive impacts on these communities. The process of service as action is comprised of five stages: investigation, preparation and planning, action, reflection, and demonstration.
How did the changemakers in the videos and the article use the five stages of Service as Action to address a community need?
