At ISH we strongly believe that open and continuous communication between school and home is one of the main factors in raising successful students. Below you can read about the platforms and channels we use, and how to find what you need.
For day-to-day school information, Toddle is your main platform. OpenApply is only relevant for new families and re-enrolment; if your child is enrolled in the ASCP, Famly is your main platform for day-to-day updates from that programme.
Toddle, used for all essential home-school communication: learning samples, class news, photos, the weekly newsletter, and messages from teachers and the school office.
We use a digital portfolio and communications tool called Toddle for home school communication in PYP, MYP and DP.
Information:
The Toddle app gives you learning samples, reminders, class news, photos and videos, homework information and information about you child's current learning unit.
Important announcements from the principals and the school office, including the link to the weekly Friday School Newsletter, are sent via The Toddle App.
Report cards and other key documents are published on Toddle.
Accessing Toddle:
You can access Toddle on a laptop/computer, or download the Toddle Family App via the Play Store or App Store.
New families receive an email link to access their child's account, after enrolment.
Contact with teachers:
Parents can contact the teacher through Toddle Family Messaging or via email (all teacher email addresses are published here.)
Please note: OpenApply is the master record for your contact details. Toddle syncs regularly with OpenApply, so please do not update your contact information directly in Toddle, as these changes will be overwritten. To update your contact information, please make changes in OpenApply only.
OpenApply, used to communicate with new families before they receive Toddle access, for re-enrolment, and to keep your contact details up to date (this is the master record all other systems sync from).
The ISH OpenApply Admissions Portal is used to send communications to new families until they get access to Toddle. In addition, OpenApply is used for re-enrolment. You will receive a notification from OpenApply when re-enrolment has started. You can read more about re-enrolment at ISH here.
Please note: OpenApply is the master record for your contact details. Toddle syncs regularly with OpenApply, so any changes made directly in Toddle will be overwritten. To update your contact information permanently, please make changes in OpenApply.
Famly, used for day-to-day communication from the ASCP (After School Care Programme).
In the ASCP we use a platform called Famly for our home-school communication. The Famly app gives you access to an ASCP newsfeed with photos and videos from the after school care programme. Important messages from the ASCP will be sent to you via both Famly and Toddle. Once you sign up for ASCP, you will receive a login email from the Famly system.
Please ensure your contact information is kept up to date in OpenApply, as this is the source all other systems sync from. Do not update your contact information directly in Toddle, as these changes will be overwritten.
The ISH Family Newsletter is published every Friday afternoon, with notification sent via Toddle. Each edition includes updates from school leadership, important announcements, news from the PTA, and programme-specific information for your child's year group. We encourage you to review it over the weekend to stay informed and prepared for the week ahead.
The school website also has a wealth of information about staff, academic programmes, extra-curricular activities, the calendar and events. The Current Families page is a good starting point for parent resources, forms and other useful links.
For day-to-day life at ISH, this Family Guide is your main reference. It covers everything from wellbeing and behaviour to teaching and learning. Use the menu navigation to explore the section you need.
You can contact teachers directly through Toddle, or by email. All teacher email addresses are published in the staff directory on the school website.
Teachers check Toddle and email daily. As they spend the day in the classroom, with students, or in meetings, please allow up to 48 hours to receive a response. Teachers are expected to return messages in a timely fashion.
ISH has a number of social media accounts where we share stories about teaching and learning, celebrate student and alumni achievements, and connect with our community. We'd love for you to follow us and join the conversation.
At ISH, we believe that communication should reflect our values of international mindedness, align with our school vision, and embody the principles of the IB Learner Profile. This means communicating in a respectful and caring way, while appreciating diverse cultural perspectives.
For parents, this also includes speaking respectfully about your child’s classmates and their parents, as it helps create a positive and supportive class culture. We ask parents to promote a positive view of the school and its students.
We encourage everyone to follow the correct communication channels to ensure clarity and effectiveness, while maintaining a caring and respectful environment. If you have a concern, please follow these steps oulined in our complaint resolution procedures.
