OMS Band Lessons

Objective

Identify personal goals for improvement and problem solve solutions.

Description

2 or more person small group lesson.

Resources

"Tradition of Excellence" Book 1 and 2. Then "Student Instrumental Course" Level 2 and 3.

Guidelines

Lessons are a mandatory part of the band program.
Students leave class 5 minutes before lesson begins.
Set up quietly while prior lesson is finishing.
Go directly back to class after lesson.
Students need to email band director if they are unable to leave class due to test.

Grading

Assessments for students' academic grade are assigned and done during lessons.
Missed lessons (unexcused) are reflected in the "Prepared for Class" grade (The "P" of PAW).
Practice records are reflected in the "Work Habits" grade (The "W" of PAW).

OMS Band Practice

Objective

It is necessary for musicians to practice consistently. Your teacher expects that you practice at least 20-30 minutes each day, 5 days per week. This is your time to work the things that will help you become a better musician.

Grading

Practice time is recorded on a practice record as it happens and will be assessed once per week and reflected in the "Work Habits" grade (The "W" of PAW).
