6th Grade Art
Course Description: Middle school art students will enhance their skills, explaining their artistic choices and forming generalizations about art. Students will be able to plan and refine their artwork and describe their ideas and choices during the creative process and while completing artist statements after the work is complete. They will gain knowledge of various media and their effects and be able to use the elements and principles of design to solve more complex visual problems. The elements and principles of design also provide vocabulary to respond to art-(describe, analyze, and interpret individuals works). Principles and Elements also provide guidelines and vocabulary to students with writing artist statements.

Mixed Media
Course Description: Eighth grade art students will continue to refine and solidify their art skills in preparation for high school art. MIXED MEDIA will give the students opportunities to explain their artistic choices and actively engage themselves in true problem-solving, and divergent creative thinking. Students will be able to plan and refine their artwork and describe their ideas and choices during the creative process. Students will utilize the elements and principles of design to solve complex visual problems. The elements and principles of design will also provide vocabulary to respond to art–describe, analyze, interpret and judge it.
