After we switch from the old FirstClass email address to the new Google email address, we will transfer your old mail from FirstClass to Google. This will take us a few days.
Mailbox Messages: We will transfer mail messages that are in your FirstClass mailbox to your Google mailbox. The message and any attachments (subject to the message size limit noted below) will be transferred to your Google mailbox. If there are messages that you do not want transferred to your new Google mailbox, delete them from your FirstClass mailbox, or move them into a folder on your FirstClass desktop.
Mailbox Folders: Any messages in folders that are in your FirstClass mailbox will also be transferred to your Google mailbox. Matching labels (Google uses "labels", not folders) will be created in Google to keep your mail organized similarly to FirstClass. If you do not want any of these folders or messages transferred to your Google mailbox, then either delete them or move them to your FirstClass desktop.
Message Size: Google imposes a limit of 20MB on imported messages. Any messages/attachments larger than 20MB will be skipped during the transfer process. If you have any large messages and you want to keep the information, make sure you transfer that data to your computer manually. Read the FirstClass: Sort Messages by Size article to learn how to find your largest messages in FirstClass.
Nested Folders: If you have nested folders in your FirstClass mailbox, we will "flatten" that folder structure before we transfer the messages to Google. For example, if you have a FirstClass folder called "2017" and inside that you have two folders, one called "Students" and one called "Staff", we will change that to two folders, one called "2017-Students" and another called "2017-Staff".
Non Mailbox Messages: We will not transfer any messages that are not in your FirstClass mailbox or in a folder in your FirstClass mailbox. If you have any messages in folders on your FirstClass desktop that you want transferred to Google, move those folders into your FirstClass mailbox. Similarly, anything that you do not want transferred to Google, either delete or move out of your FirstClass mailbox.
The system will deliver messages from your old e-mail address to your new email address for a transition period, so you won't miss any emails.
When you reply to messages, or send new messages, the people will see your new address. Over time, the people you regularly communicate with will see your new address.
Optionally, you may want to notify people who you regularly email with of your new email address.
You could also add a notice regarding the address change in your signature for a transition period.
