Every successful organization builds itself around it's WHY. The WHY needs to be able to describe what this organization is about and their purpose for being. Our WHY is F.A.M.I.L.Y. It stand for: Forget About Me, I Love You. This is the driving force behind everything we strive to do. For our program LOVE = Sacrifice. The way we show our love for others to to give of ourselves. This giving might be of our time, our effort, and our support.
HOW we implement our WHY is the next step of this process. Our HOW is the pillars of our program. Just like pillars support a house or building, our pillars support our F.A.M.I.L.Y. Our pillars are: Fun, Service, Bonding, Character, and Academics.
The question that we get the most often is what Offense or what Defense do you run. Well, the questions about WHAT we do is not as important as WHY or HOW. All of the things that we do are in support of our HOW and thus ins support of our WHY. Examples of some of the things we do in support of our HOW and WHY:
- Fun - We run offensive and defensive schemes that players will enjoy. We celebrate our seniors with players skits on senior week. We play music during the practice through the clean rap channel on Pandora
- Service - We raise fund with JHS for the Wounded Warrior Project. Our seniors are expected to be connected with a BAA team that they will have to check in with at least once a week. We run a youth camp the last full week of July.
- Bonding - We will do a team bonding activity during fall camp (we went bowling in 2017). We will have a kickoff event during fall camp to help bring parents and community into the program. We hold team meals for the varsity team before the varsity games ( parents are encouraged to be a part of this as well).
- Character - We will hold weekly character lessons that focus on the values as laid out by the district. We will have volunteer opportunities for players throughout the year. We like to have past players come back to talk with our current players.
- Academics - We will have grade checks done throughout the season and players will have to meet the teams academic expectations in order to play. We have a study table group that meets before school to help those players who need extra academic help. We will have a Teacher of the Week program where students nominate a teacher to come speak to the team.
