Attendance

Attendance is taken daily. Please communicate any changes (sick, appointment, etc.) with the office by 9:30am. 

Illnesses, medical appointments, family emergencies, and vacations are excused. Please communicate vacations absences in advance.

Bus Information


If your child's bus routine changes, the teacher will need a note from you.

 If your child's bus routine permanently changes, please contact the elementary office  at 320-634-4567. 

Meals

Breakfast and lunch is free for all students! 

 Students are offered milk at breakfast, lunch, and snack. 

Even though meals are now free, If you feel you may qualify for free or reduced meals, please fill out this application. We highly encourage families to do so. 

The data from these applications also helps determine other funding that benefits the district.

Special Services 

Minnewaska Schools provides an array of specialized services to students who have unique needs.  No services are provided without parental consent. 

Intervention Services: 

All students in grades K-3 are assessed three times a year (fall, winter, spring). Based on these assessments if a student is behind his same aged peers in the areas of math or literacy they maybe offered Intervention Services.  Federal Title One services, combined with Reading Corp Tutors make up our intervention team.  These teachers and tutors provide students with additional support daily in their areas of need.  

Counseling Services: 

Minnewaska Elementary has a school counselor who can meet with students individually or in a small group to assist with social/emotional or behavioral needs.  Mental Health Providers are also available for students in they require more intense services.  

Special Education  

Students who meet eligibility criteria for one of the thirteen disability categories of special education receive services from our licensed Special Education and related service providers.  All evaluations and services are part of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) under federal law IDEA.
