Early Childhood Screening
All students entering kindergarten must go through preschool screening. The district targets this screening between the ages of 3-4. However, if your child has never been screened, this must be completed prior to Kindergarten entrance. There is no cost and some summer dates availalable. Please schedule at:

August Assessment
Towards the end of July you will receive a letter from your child's kindergarten teacher and included will be information to schedule your August Assessment.
At Minnewaska Schools we schedule an August Assessment with each incoming kindergartener. This is a time for you and your child to come into school and the teacher will spend some 1:1 time with the student learning about his/her strengths and areas we want to see grow.
Minnesota does not have requirements for Kindergarten entrance other than those listed on the card to the right. This isn't a test they have to "pass" to come to school.
The assessment gives the teacher baseline information to help in instructional planning to assure every child's individual needs are being met.
