As a member of First Tech Challenge and High Tech Kids, we want to increase awareness in the community to STEM and Robotics. We do this through various outreach events in our community. Below are a few recent highlights
Yearly 5 FTC teams at LSHS go to our Local Home and Garden Show at LNHS to showcase their robots from the season and have the public try driving their robot!
Recently we have also particpated in the YES! area of the show selling 3D printed and laser engraved items as a fundraiser for our club
On January 10th, 2024; all of our FTC teams set up the field for our Lakeville South STEM night. For this event the community is invited into our STEM area of the school to see all the cool things we do at our school.
Many of our current Robotics students first learned about robotics from attending past STEM nights
May 24, 2023
The Hackercats team was invited to go to Flint Hills Resources (an oil refinery in our county) to share their robot with the employees and do mock matches with the other teams in attendance.
The team was also taken on a tour of the facility to learn about how many of the things they are working with and learning in robotics relates to job fields at Flint Hills.

Many of our Elementary Schools hold a STEM night. Our robotics teams come and help with the event and sometimes do a demonstration/presentation about Robotics.
On Sunday, January 25th, 2026 our club went to a Girl Scout meeting to talk about FTC to over 100 Minnesota Girl Scouts that were there. At this event, we helped them learn to code Spheros, taught about FTC and engineering, and demonstrated our robot. Because of our involvement, each Girl Scout was able to get 3 badges related to STEM.
