We typically start 2 weeks into school since the new "game"/challenge is launched Mid-September. Teams will complete in up to two qualifying matches (between November and January) to try to qualify for State which occurs in early February. If a team does well at state they can qualify for Worlds which is in April in Houston, TX.

Near the end of the school year and informational meeting will be held to recruit more students to robotics for the following year. At this meeting we will determine the teams, plan summer activities, etc.
During our season, we have two or three practices a week at school (starts right after school gets out and goes until 5pm). Teams can meet outside of school (at a library, someone's home, etc) to work as well and these practices are planned by the team.
There are middle school shuttle busses from McGuire and Kenwood to South that the middle school students can take to get to our practices after school.
Jackie Fleischhacker is the head coach and school representative for all teams, there is also an assistant coach- Ivan Lopez that helps supervise practices and competitions. For teams and our activities club to be successful, parent involvement is necessary. There are many different ways that you can help your child’s team in technical and non-technical ways. See this document that outlines various roles that are needed to be filled.
