This activity is based on the music video for the song This Too Shall Pass by OK Go. They created this video by connecting a series of simple machines together, to create a single chain reaction machine, timed perfectly to their song. So perfectly in fact, that one section of the machine actually plays a part of the song itself.
University of St. Thomas Engineering student (and former LNHS Grad) Maria Baklund came to talk to our class about the Engineering program at St. Thomas, what its like to be an engineering student, and her work with the band OK Go and the OK Go Sandbox. The OK Go Sandbox is a collection of STEM lessons that correspond to OK Go's music videos. Maria also had a chance work with individual groups on their Rube Goldberg Machines.
