Dear Preschool Families:
This message is intended to give you information in regards to picking up your child’s end of the year materials from the Fridley Community Center. While our school year is not ending in the manner we had hoped for, we still want to provide end of the year materials related to your child’s school year. Please take a moment to read the points below. Thank you.
Zero Contact pick up at the FCC:
-Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2
-8:00 am - 4:00 pm both days
-Families will drive up to the back loop by Door 10
-Families are to have their child’s name and classroom teacher on a piece of paper and will hold that up to the car window
-Staff will retrieve each child’s bag of materials from room 114 and will bring it out to the family
-Families should remain in their car and staff will either place it on a table for families to grab or place it in the trunk of the car
-FCC staff will be wearing face masks and gloves
-All exchange of materials will be made with minimal/no contact
Materials being sent home:
-End of the year student portfolio (4-year-old)
-End of the year teacher letter
-Any student clothes or items left at school after March 16th
For any families who cannot pick up their child’s materials, the Fridley Preschool will attempt to send the materials home on the bus routes in the last week of school.
While we wish we could have a more traditional send off to the end of the school year, please note that this is not an opportunity for your child to say goodbye to their teacher. In following Governor Walz’s directive to stay safe and practice social distancing, not all the classroom teachers and support staff will be at the FCC on these two days. If you have any questions please reach out to Katie Brown at 763-502-5105 or Karin Beckstrand at 612-475-1099. Thank you.
Hello Fridley 4-Year-Old Preschool Families,
We hope you and your family are doing well and your are finding our distance learning plans helpful. The purpose of this email is to share a link to a survey for parents/guardians to provide general feedback and input regarding your child's progress, school planning, implementation, and instructional methods of our Preschool. We are seeking your input in regards to the entire school year, both in-person instruction and our distance learning. Your responses are critical for us to continue to improve your child's experiences this year and help us for the future. Please only complete one survey per family.
Also, last year, we were awarded a federal magnet school grant and your responses to this survey will help us with the report we are required to submit. Our magnet program is the Preschool International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). This grant has provided us funding to purchase new materials, provide required staff training, and to cover other expenses as we pursue our authorization as an IB PYP Preschool. Your children have directly benefited from this grant this year and your responses are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jason Bodey, Ed.D. Karin BeckstrandPrincipal Preschool Coordinator763-502-5101 612-475-1099Hello 4-Year-Old Preschool Students and Families,
I wanted to reach out to you at the end of our spring break week with important information regarding next week and moving forward.
School Schedule Change:
This past week, Governor Tim Walz and Education Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker announced that all Minnesota schools are mandated to provide student education through distance learning from March 30, 2020 through May 4, 2020. This means that students will not report to school in person, rather they will be accessing learning from a distance. Students should not come to school in person on these dates.
Distance Learning:
Information about our Distance Learning Plan is on our website. Please check this regularly for updates from the teachers and other staff. Teachers will begin to make phone calls and send messages through the Bloomz app to connect with students and families personally on Monday, March 30th. You should receive a call or message from your child's teacher and they will provide you and/or your child with information on your distance learning schedule and directions on how to access the learning activities.
Student Distance Learning Schedule:
There will be activities posted daily on the Distance Learning Site and optional choice board activities can be used for additional engagement. These activities can be completed throughout the course of the day based on your family's schedule. This will be an evolving process as we all get used to our "new normal". Please be patient with us as we learn how to provide instruction and interact with your family from a distance. Attendance in class will look differently than it does when we are in our normal schedule. Students will be considered present through the teacher-parent/guardian communication. Teachers will work to establish a partnership with families to assist in engagement of learning activities at least twice a week.
Technology:
Teachers will be using the Bloomz app, phone calls, and email as a main source of communication. As stated earlier, our Distance Learning Site will have all the activities posted daily. Teachers may also use Google Hangout to connect with families on an individual basis. If your family is unable to access an internet connection, we will still be able to provide you printed learning activities next week. On Monday, please communicate this need to your teacher when they contact you and we will create a plan to get the work to you.
Communication:
Please continue to monitor your email addresses and phones for messages from Fridley Public Schools and from Fridley Preschool. If you need something specific, please call 763-502-5105. If your child will not be engaging in activities on a given day, please communicate the absence to your child's teacher.
During these challenging times, please take care of yourselves and your family. We are here to support and help you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, needs, and concerns at 763-502-5105.
Thank you,
Jason Bodey and Karin Beckstrand
