Welcome Everyone!

Throughout the year, we will use this website page, along with the Seesaw app for the majority of our school and class communication! This website will be updated as we go, with links/activities we are doing in class to bridge school learning with home. We will also highlight how we are showing action through our IB Learner Profile words and teach families about IB, as well!


The Seesaw app will be used as a way for us to share pictures from our classroom, student work, and will allow you to connect with other parents in our class, as well! These updates will likely be weekly, if not more frequently!

International Baccalaureate Units

"Who We Are"

(September-November)


Central Idea:

Everyday, I learn about what shapes me.


What do we learn about?

  • Ourselves - likes/dislikes

  • Our new friends - similarities/differences

  • Our families and people in general!

"Where We Are in Place & Time"

(November-December)


Central Idea:

Buildings are designed and constructed to meet the needs of the people who use them.


What do we learn about?

  • Different kinds of buildings and their uses

  • Construction/how buildings are made

  • Common characteristics and features that all buildings require

"How We Express Ourselves"

(January-April)


Central Idea:

People can express themselves uniquely through the arts.


What do we learn about?

  • All the various forms that make up "the arts": music, musical instruments, movement/dance, painting

  • How music, for example, can sound differently and make us feel.

"How the World Works"

(All year, but we focus solely on this unit April-June)


Central Idea:

Earth's natural cycles influence activity of living things.


What do we learn about?

  • All year long, we learn and talk about the seasons as they change. We also talk about the weather each day.

  • At the end of the year, we expand on the weather by graphing it each day, learning about how weather influences us as people, and also an introduction to the cycle of the 4 seasons.
