Amendments
Amendments are changes to a resolution proposed by delegates. An amendment can change, strike or add to a specific part of the resolution.
For example:
Adds an operative clause that reads “14. Encourages all Latin American countries to…”
Strikes operative clause 9.
Changes operative clause 1 to read “1. Calls upon the Red Cross to provide low-cost medicines…”
Amendments can be submitted before and during the debate on the resolution using the provided Google Doc.
Once an amendment is selected for debate, delegates will debate it for a time set by the Chair, starting with a speech from the delegate who submitted the amendment. After this time has elapsed, the house will vote on the amendment. If it passes, the amendment is included in the original resolution.
