BVB & Regio provides all the public transport information in Basel including planning routes, checking departure times and seeing zone and route maps
U-Abo is designed for purchasing monthly and yearly passes valid in the Basel area, allowing for stress-free ease when taking public transport
TNW Tickets is the go-to mobile app for purchasing single and multi-trip tickets while on the go in the Basel region.
The SBB app allows you to book and plan trips valid in the entirety of Switzerland, including long-distance trains and local transport in cities across the country
The SwissPass card is the easiest way for regular travellers throughout Switzerland to utilise Halbtax or a GA Travel Card.
Halbtax can be purchased as a means to get half-price on all SBB tickets throughout Switzerland, including tram tickets in Basel. All children under 16 are automatically regarded as halbtax.
A GA travel card allows for monthly or yearly unlimited travel throughout all public transport in the entirety of Switzerland.

Zones, Lines and Tariffs
The number of zones you travel through on any given route constitutes the number of zone ticket you need to purchase.
Every single route and stop for both buses and trams is marked in the general direction they travel.
Children under the age of 6 travel free with a parent.
A Junior Card can be purchased for children between the ages of 6 - 16, allowing free transport for a year while accompanied by a parent.

Failure to present a valid ticket when inspected will constitute a 100 CHF fine, plus the ticket price that should have been purchased.
We are incredibly fortunate to live in a country with as developed of a public transport infrastructure as Switzerland. Respect the people around you, don't eat or drink in the trams and buses and ensure that you keep all noise at a respectful volume.
Parking
You can park your car here for unlimited time in townships around Basel.
In Basel-Stadt and Reinach white zones are metered parking. You can park for between 30 mins to 8 hours.
Blue zone parking is free for a maximum stay of 90 minutes with a temporary parking disc displayed on the windscreen. If you have a residential parking card of a particular zip code, you can park in the blue zone in that area for an unlimited period.
The sticker needs to be applyed on the inside of your car's windshield. Each sticker costs 40 CHF and must be replaced annually. They can be purchased at most petrol stations, post offices and all border crossings or online. From 2023 it is possible to buy or check online if your vehicle has already the sticker as e-vignette (here) .
