It seems after 16 years of intense fighting, the people of South Korea have finally gotten what they had so hard struggled for. The green onion cereal?! Yes, you heard that right. For 16 years, the people of South Korea have been fighting with the Kellogs corporations to introduce, what can be presumed as the weirdest breakfast cereal ever thought of by mankind. So how did the fight for Green Onion Cereal begin? Why would anyone even want green onion cereal? and most importantly, is it any good?
This bizarre story starts back in 2004 when Kellogg's cooperations started a new advertising campaign in which the public could vote on which cereal they wanted them to release next. A TV commercial offered two cartoon candidates in the presidential election for the Chex Choco Empire - chocolate-flavoured Cheki and green onion-flavoured Chaka. Truth be told, the vote was already decided before voting even started. Kellogg's had been mass-producing the extra chocolaty cereal for quite some time now. This whole voting ad campaign was to get people more engaged and hyped on the cereal. Kellogg's thought it would be an easy win. I mean, who would want to eat green onion cereal? Boy, were they surprised.
When voting first commenced, Cheki was in a big lead, but as the voting progressed, the tides began to turn as a giant army of trollers assembled on the front door of Kellogg's website. At first, it started slow, but as the days passed by and momentum picked up, Chaka overtook Cheki. Kellogg executives scrambled around to turn the vote back in their favour, but it was too little too late. Day by day, the gap just grew and grew until they knew there was no way they could win. So what did Kelloggs do? They cited voter fraud, restricted voting and announced Cheki as the winner to called it a day.
Of course, people were outraged, and a massive protest against Kellog's corporation ensued online. People called out Kellog's to release the actual voting results. Others called Cheki an illegitimate tyrant. This flame kept burning for 16 years, with #PrayForChex regularly appearing, and it seems to have worked.
In 2020, Kellogg's did something no one expected. They actually released the long-awaited green onion cereal as a limited edition cereal alongside an apology video on their youtube channel. This news became so big that on the day it was announced, it became the top trending topic on South Korean Social Media and sold out online within 2 days of it being released. People all over South Korea were overjoyed and cheered as Cheki was ousted, and the rightful ruler was put in his place.
So after reading this whole story, you are probably wondering, was the struggle worth it? Does it taste good? Lucky for you, I actually bought it and tasted it.
So what did I think? Absolutely horrible- the worst cereal I have ever tasted. It did taste better without milk but still tasted pretty bad. Simply don't buy it.
Ending on a different note, they ended up doing the same stunt, this time in Japan. Customers could either vote for a new Vanilla flavoured Cereal or a Wasabi Flavoured Cereal. Like last time, Kelloggs expected everyone to vote for the vanilla flavoured cereal, but I think we all know how it ended. It seems they still haven't learned their lesson...
Do you know what a gearbox is? It provides you with a smoother and better experience while driving. A gearbox can also be called a transmission at times.
The way a gearbox works is basically by changing gears to allow the driving journey to be as smooth and steady as possible. Inside a gearbox there are multiple different sized gears, the smallest one will be the 1st gear, the next biggest one will be 2nd and so on. Most of the cars in the market have a total of 6 gears and newer and highly-priced cars will have 7 or 8. Luxury cars have more gears so they can ride smoother on the highway.
Once you’re locked into a gear you will need a clutch. A clutch helps you change between gears and when a car is slowing down its pace, it’ll need a small gear so it can have the power to move. It also helps locks the gear in place and releases it when you have to change gears. As the car goes faster and faster, it’ll need to shift up gears to speed up and the clutch will help you do just that. But if the car has a manual transmission, you will have to engage the clutch by yourself, an automatic transmission will help you shift by itself at different times.
